A few comments from the British Council London team that manages this programme.

IYPY is now IYPE, so International Young Publishing Entrepreneur. The name change is to bring it in line with the other eight awards for young creative entrepreneurs that we run.

Malaysia has, so far, taken part in the Design Entrepreneur (2008, Si Juan Ng) and Music Entrepreneur awards (2007, Jason Lo and 2008, Hardesh Singh) - unfortunately not publishing. Regionally India, Philippines and Thailand have all taken part in IYPE, with Indian publisher Anand winning in 2007. For further information please contact the British Council in Malaysia.

The IYPE award now has an established alumni network, currently chaired by Maltese publisher Christopher Gruppetta. You can find out more about Chris here: www.creativeconomy.org.uk/iype07

There's also now a UK award, which this year will see six finalists heading to India - you can find out more here: www.creativeconomy.org.uk/ukype09

I hope that it helps anybody who is interested in the international publishing scene and encourages young people to think about the opportunities within the creative industries - the business side of the creative sector.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7912730.post-1124236315873038532005-08-17T07:51:00.000+08:002005-08-17T07:51:00.000+08:00Everything needs to grow, Priya ...
