Unhazed, Unfazed.

Woke up to a heart-stoppingly horrible scenario this morning. The Visitor e-mailed me to say that my blog had disappeared and an SMS from DZ to say the same thing. I checked. When I tried myself all I could get was an expanse of whiteness. No words. No nothing. Smogged out.

Fortunately the archives were still there where I'd left them and no posts were missing.

I wrote to the guys at Blogspot and here I am, back again.

But *phew* you realise just how vulnerable you are. I'm lazy at backing up my entries but will make it a priority now.

I love my blog and am not going away any time soon!

The smog outside has gone too. This is the third day of clear skies and there was a huge thunderstorm yesterday to clear the air still further. I've hardly dared believe it.

Thats scary. What exactly happened? Was it a hacker attack?

Just a technical glitch I think.

Hi, Sharon, glad nothing happened to your blog. Sometimes blog become inaccessible due to maintenance.

Could you please share with us how do you make backups of your Blogspot-hosted blog? I think it would be a great help to a lot of Blogspot bloggers out there, including me.

Many thanks.

Thanks for your good wishes everyone.

KakTeh - Yes, I remember you telling us about your husband's blog and how worried you were.

shahrul - I'm just saving page by page onto diskette. Please tell me how you save!!

I backup all my posts by sending them to my Gmail account. Not exactly foolproof, but at least i have a copy of every single post I've written.

I also backup up my template every now and then and save it as a text file into my hard disk according to the date (so any changes made are saved too).

I also save the posts as text files in my hard disk, along with all the comments I've recieved. takes a bit of work though.

sharon or sahron, what I do is, i have all comments and also my entry posted to my email. this way I have copies of not only my entry but also comments - even if people delete them. - create an email
address just for your blog.

i don't give a rat's ass about my blog or its entries. i don't back up anything. if it disappears one day, i'll just start all over again. my blog is not personal, it's not important, it's not anything.

Caught in said huge storm. With big umbrella that actually bent in it. Wind actually pushed the doors of the local 7-eleven open. And they're not easy to open either. Was fun though, first time I got pushed around by the wind.

I got caught in a hurricane once in Britain. My mum insisted on going shopping in it because the weather never stops us stoic Brits doing anything! (Tiles were flying off roofs and we couldn't take a step forward, put no, we weren't about to give up.)

eyeris, kakteh - thanks for the hint. I will send my entries now to my g-mail account since I don't seem to be doing much else with it! I have put copies of all my stories there for safe keeping already.

visitor - can you really be so cool towards your blog??
