Rowling Revealed

JK Rowling last night unveiled a portrait of herself by Stuart Pearson Wright, winner of the 2001 BP portrait award, at the National Portrait Gallery in London. It's supposed to show her in the early days, writing in a cafe, living on boiled eggs.

Ah, the romantic image of a writer ...

Someday, someone will paint me eating gummy bear cakes as I write on the verandah at Delicious.

Until that day comes (not far in the future, I'm sure), how about a photograph of you with gummy bear cupcake in hand at Delicious?

Well, it's not quite a garret, but I guess in modern terms, it's close enough! I don't see anything that looks like a laptop in the picture...did she really write the first HP in long-hand?

3rd chimp - according to the Sparks Notes website "Since she could afford neither a typewriter nor typing paper, Rowling wrote nearly all of her debut novel longhand on scraps of paper and bits of napkins."
