Chinese Festivals Illustrated

Feature in the Star today about Penang-born freelance writer and self-taught artist Moey Sook Ching who has written and illustrated a beautiful cookbook called Chinese Feasts and Festivals published by Periplus Editions.

This is a book I'd buy for the pictures alone!

It's been in the bookshops for months, ladies! We got a copy from Times but I've seen it at Popular too.

Very nice. The illustrations really bring back a sense of ..tradition.

thanks - i'll look out for it

but if as you say, spot, it's been out for months, how come it isn't on periplus' website and the promotional push hasn't been there (or else it slipped below this booklover's radar)

the problem for writers and the book industry here is that we often just don't hear of books published locally

I have recently discovered your mother's book on Chinese feasts and festivals. I love the book both for the culture/history piece as well as the culinary information.

She is a fabulous writer as well as illustrator. (I am also a writer.) One of the blogs said she might be working on a new book. Is this happening? I would love to follow her work.

Thanks!
