Yvonne -- Payless doesn't accept credit cards, as far as I know...

Hi Sharon,

Got the Keret. Finished it. Brilliant. I'm buying his books next month, hopefully.

sufian - glad on all counts. he's written other stuff i'd love to read.

AIYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Sharon - I still remember the last one.
Pay Less doesn't quite burn a hole in one's pocket though....

WHAT?? It's a conspiracy I tell you! Someone really wants to make sure I starve (and unlike a silverfish of the other variety, I can't just eat my buys).

sham - and that's the only consolation. i can feel fully satisfied for less than RM50.

anyway, i am going to make a list of things i want before i go.

Well, I suppose it's a blessing in disguise that I could be abroad during those dates. ;)

But darn, i wanted to make it to this one!

Thank goodness it's in this out of the way place.. :) Hey 3K is near that LRT station isn't it ? :)

for a moment i thought PLB was closing down (well, some shops are closed) but then i understood. argh, i'm already bankrupt. but does anybody know if parking is easy?

ok, ok... i need to calm down, too many sales... i'm hyperventilating. if a broke and destitute person with no social life but lots of books held you at gunpoint and asked you which booksale is better, the atria one or the payless one, what would you say? (bearing in mind the "broke and destitute" bit... ) i'm looking to restock my library with good children's classics, many of which mysteriously vanished from my bookshelves when i was abroad... and basically any book that does not have a pastel yellow/pink/blue cover with illustrations of high heels and martini glasses.

i am such a lousy pj-ian, i've lived here all my life with a few breaks in-between but have never been to atria. i travel everywhere by LRT... is atria close to the taman bahagia LRT station at all?

and i've no idea if the payless warehouse sale location is close to an LRT station... if someone could give me the details i will be eternally grateful.

i'm useless with directions, guys. can someone help these guys out? atria is near my house (that's helpful, right!) and taman bahagia LRT isn't far from my house either, but you would need to connect the dots by taxi

i will take a taxi to the pay less sale as i hate driving in strange parts of the city. i think the parking should be fine - at least on weekdays.

which is better (with a gun pointed at my head)? why make a choice - do both but set a budget. in one you have brand new books with a british bias, in the other much cheaper books with an american bias.

as for the dosh - i reckon it this way. i'm not leading a wild social life. don't spend much on other things. and buying books makes me feel good.

maybe you should share rides - a ringgit save could be a book bought. i can see the headlines: "book worms car pool to tome clearance"

"buying books makes me feel good."

Don't need a better reason than that. It's your stress buster, just as giant pandas are my stress busters.

As for directions to Atria - it's near Damansara Utama, and coming from DU towards the Damansara NKVE Toll, there are two flyovers; you go on the first flyover, but keep left towards the second and take a left to go into Damansara Jaya; first left at traffic light and you're at Atria.

thank you for the directions... i'm thinking getting to atria wouldn't be much of a problem. just hoping that getting a taxi back from the payless location wouldn't be a hassle - what with a sack of books slung over my shoulder!

There's a KTM Komuter station in Subang Jaya, across the road from Subang Parade. So just get a taxi to the station, which should be cheaper than taking one all the way home or to the city.

IMPORTANT:

JUST MAKE SURE YOU SAY CLEARLY TO THE TAXI DRIVER: "ATRIA."

when i got into the cab to go there the other day, the driver took me to IKEA, instead of ATRIA.

or to be extra safe, say "Atria, Damansara Jaya."

chet - thanks for the directions

visitor - taxi drivers have simulat problems with the regent hotel and legend hotel because they pronounce both exactly the same!

Allan Koay 郭少樺 said...

and they can't understand what Renaissance Hotel is.

you have to say Ree-nay-sence Hotel.

Hold on.. is it near an LRT station at all ? this happens in real life A LOT as well, WHY do people think I'm giving them directions if I ask them about things ? :)

Anyway I have no idea whether it's near an LRT station at all, but there IS a drive-in A&W near an LRT in PJ, but I forget which one it is. There's also an inn attached to it where you can get a good mug of ale and a bed with clean hay :)

If it's that one you mean you can just walk to it from the LRT station.

Still got many books from the NST sale (at least they were kind enough to provide detailed directions) -- popular doesn't usually have my kind of books (good classics, stuff that would never have sold but for some reason they brought in) but will check it anyway.

bibliobibuli said...

nope not that LRT station - go on to the end of the line and then take a cab (why not just take a cab from home and relax?)

but do go to it because you will have a great time.

Chet said...

The Atria is in a part of the city where the residents don't need public transportation. Go figure ...

As for the LRT station near the A&W drive-in - it is within walking distance of the Payless Books shop at AmCorp Mall but that shop is not where the sale is.
