Happy British World Book Day

It's World Book Day today ... in the UK and Ireland. (Earlier than the rest of the world which celebrates on April 23rd. Reason? April is school hols in the UK.)

And on this note, Sharon, do read this on Neil Gaiman's journal, if you haven't already.

It started way back (well, in blog years anyway) with the "scrotum" fiasco leading to librarians being harassed on both sides for either pandering to "concerned citizens" (i.e. some overzealous parents) or allowing such "library porn" on their shelves.

This is one librarian's take on the issue by sharing her past experience with the introduction of internet access at her library and the parents' dramatic response. A bit lengthy, but worth the read.

Argh. I wish I was back in Malaysia for KLILF. Could also go for some good ol Bangsar mamak along the way.
