And if you are hesitating because you feel all shy shy and worry about the arty-farty cliquishness of it ... you'll find a warm and welcoming (though somewhat crazy) crowd of folks of all ages and races in love with words.

OMG, Sharon! That sounds like the best line-up you've *ever* had (not necessarily including the BC-assisted ones). Whoohoo!
:)
yeah, not bad is it. i've already got my may line up organised and that's pretty impressive too!
Er...Sharon, the text may talk about "sticky" but the title says "Sicky post". So, upon reading that, I was going to actually ask you to get well soon... ;D
haha thanks
sounds like a good lineup. AHhhhh, that boy was the unconfirmed reader..I shall do my best not to spread any of my fever germs to him the next few days then.
zedeck was kind enough to step in at the last moment and i remembered that he asked me if he could read some time back. i had a couple of people drop out and then a whole list of possibles who turned out not to be able to make it this time. aiyoh, the chasing that has to be done!!
sighh...i'm so gonna miss this time's Readings. Do write-up on it later so i can devoured it when i come back from my trip. Heheh... ;o)
oh pretty boy reading.
I'll be there!

Heya, Bibliobibuli,
Sent you a poster for this month's "Readings" --- I followed most of the information here.
And that line-up! Gives me the shivers to think I'd be reading with such a talented bunch. Feels like bumpkin, Yoda does. :P
you'll be fine, kid!
very many thanks. i was actually too shy to ask you because i keep asking favours ... i really love this design though
will do best to be there! may have to go to an event/talk, will confirm.
i can't imagine kenny is at all nervous, considering he gave himself top billing in the poster. mwahaha!
he's going first too, amir!!!
but there are no stars, no matter how published and praised
O ho ho ho... I just knew that was gonna come up. ;)
No, Amir, I had reservations initially but ended up just listing the readers in the order Sharon placed us. Anyway, I don't mind people thinking I'm an egomaniac --- too many think I'm Mr. Nice Guy as it is. Not too good for the reputation, yeah?
And Bibliobibuli, never hesitate to ask. I'll do it if I can, and if I can't, I'll let you know, okay?
P.S. It's my fav design so far too; actually the first I'm actually pleased with, haha.
yeah ... you're much too nice, kenny
and thanks re the ongoing offer and the kind words
my philosphy about the readings has evolved, is evolving (it's actually bernice's but we never actually discussed it - i just followed her format)... everyone who reads is "just another writer" with equal treatment, equal billing, equal time
course, it really helps to have names that draw the crowd and add a touch of respectability and sexiness to the proceedings and writers who inspire because they are so damn good
when i first took this event over from bernice i wasn't sure i could make it work as she had ... but it's been a great few months
and i'm working on getting even more of the great and the good as well as first-time writers who deserve to be heard. and if you know of any, please tip me off.
I don't know if my comment went through, I swore I commented before. I love the poster (hurrah vonnegut!) and I'll try to make it Saturday.

want to invite you to read for us ... now booking for june and july readings!
Hi Sharon! I had such a blast at the Nite of the Living Text, and had the pleasure of meeting you in person. Am looking forward to this Sat's Readings, and am spreading the word!
Hi! Le me introduce myself. I am Alexander Rimsky - a Russian/British writer based in London. I have a number of e-books. At the moment I am marketing "An Ordinary Black Cat" - book about extreme bullying and revenge, It is about killing with impunity. Curious readers are welcome to www.catyourway.com I would be most grateful for any comments. If you promote my book I would be most grateful.
jade - thanks a lot and looking forward to seeing you on saturday. yes, do bring your friends
alexander - thanks, will drop by for a read and all the best with your book.
Well, I've never been to Bernice's "Readings" but I dare say you're doing a great job at it! Will look around for more writers for you. May have one in mind already; if only she can make it...
thanks kenny, though i have my names for next month already and some for june ... it's always good to hear of other people who are writing
Everytime I wish to come. But never managed to make it.
I hope I can come to your next session.

You know, I was actually dying to go and I thought I could make it if I left work at 1 but..... Heh...
Before I run off to Uni, I'll make sure that I go to atleast ONE Readings D8
--------SaQ--------
The readings start at 3:30 p.m., so you had 2½ hours to get there, what.
The last Saturday of the month is always a literary Saturday for me. First, there's the MPH LitBloggers' Breakfast Club in the morning, followed by the readings in the afternoon. Both in the same neighbourhood. This afternoon, I had to rush off to see mother very quickly - her nutritional supplement supply was down to just ONE scoop so I had to drive over there, and I did - and then rush back to the readings. But it was worth it!
Thanks, Bib babe.
i should have gone to readings instead of being dutiful daughter. i was soooo boreddddddd.... next time!
Chet : Unfortunately, I only left my office at 3, and my mom wanted to go to the Home Dec con at KLCC. D8 By the time I got out of the mall, it was...6...
I'm hoping I'll be able to go to the next one...if my 'boss' lets me that is. (yes, I work 6 days a week. -_-;;)
--------SaQ--------
Sharon, what a fabulous blog. I think I will spend many happy hours loitering in your archives.
It's a shame there aren't any reading/writing groups in Penang. I would love to have attended Readings, but the four-hour drive ...
never mind if you couldn't attend, we're keeping going, so next month and the months after and the month after we'll see you
celtic scribbler - it's nice to hear from a writer in penang. maybe you could get something similar going up there?? it doesn't take much, just a few writers and a venue - maybe there would be a cafe willing to sponsor an event of this kind? really there just needs to be someone with the enthusiasm and energy and once you begin, you will discover more and more writers who want to take part.
Yeah, and then we can visit the Penang readings and the Penang readers can hire a bus and visit us one Saturday ...
*excited*
er ... the above is Chet's alter ego.
Great poster. The sort I would frame if I could get my hands on one.
I don't know too many writers up here in Penang, but we all have to start somewhere. Perhaps I'll come down to KL one of these days and see how you guys conduct your reading sessions. I'm not sure if there'll be a busload of us, though. A Proton-ful, perhaps.
celtic scribbler - k.kim, who commented in the "What We Need" post, is also from Penang. If you click on the name to go to her profile and then on the link to her blog, you'll find out maybe you know her. She's planning to come down end of May, so maybe the two of you can arrange something.
saQ - next time lah! may 26th is our next reading and we have some v. good people lined up already
cetic scribbler - it's only a case of starting something and then the momentum builds ...
and thanks chet, yes, look forward to that
