Reading Burgess in Kuala Hantu
Reading Burgess' Time for a Tiger on the bank of the Sungei Lancap ...
We went up to Kuala Kangsar on Saturday with Rob and Elaine for our own mini-pilgrimage to the former haunts of John Burgess Wilson, Malay College teacher and later novelist extraordinaire.
I'm getting really excited about our Burgess tribute tonight ...
Postscript:
Sorry I haven't put up my post about the event yet, but have so much to write. It will be up soon, promise!!

Good luck for the event tonight! I'm sure it'll be fun, memorable and will open up a greater awareness and appreciation of Anthony Burgess.

Sungei Lancap eh? What they usually do there? Catching some fish?
Who says no porn "pada zaman dulu"
Tehehe.
PS: Sorry Sharon, can't help it. :P
i feel sorry for poor kak teh, who emailed me an hour or so back and asked me if i'd made a mistake with the name because when she'd tried to google it, she'd ended up on porn sites! i am only quoting the author, sorry guys!
twan - many thanks for your good wishes.
thanks for not leaving me all alone at that table =)
hafiz - i know how it feels! hope you managed to make some new friends!
sharon, my own ignorance, surely and that fact was confirmed by my husband who interviewed the author. Now, who's the monkey...hehe! see you soon.
sharon,my daughter and i thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We made new friends while enjoying the MCOB camrederie. Your introduction was refreshing. i find your "journey" amazing. I have tried to capture some aspects of the evening proceedings in my blog. http://inspigoblog.wordpress.com/2008/01/15/an-evening-with-the-tigers-without-the-beer-14th-jan-2008/.
Those Burgess students were my superseniors,. I hope they do not mind my way of presenting the proceeding,.
thanks so much. i have a lot to write on this blog too but have been busy the past few days. it was incredibly special.
