Bissme S.
interviews local author Ahadiat Akashah who has published 75 novels to date, but garnered little respect for his efforts ... in fact there was an uproar when the Ministry of Education announced plans to include one of his novels in the school literature curriculum, and once when he was picked to represent Malaysia at an international literary event :
A few of his more vocal critics even threatened to burn down Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka (DBP) for choosing him.
Clearly much thicker skinned than most, none of this though has prevented him from writing. He says :
When you cook well and a lot people says your food is nice, you have to be happy ... If there are only one or two chefs who do not like your cooking, you have to live with the fact. You cannot make everyone happy.
