42 Writers Protest Detention Without Trial

Dina Zaman passed on to me an email that was passed on to her about the website 42writers.com which was set up to protest the British Government’s current proposals to extend pre-charge detention in terrorism cases from 28 to 42 days.

The site acts like a calendar with 42 different (and excellent) writers each contributing a story, essay or poem.

The email came round with the message "We should do something like this here".

Well, yes, but we would need a heck of a lot more than 42 writers ... and maybe that makes it even more important.
