But, but I'm an MPH member and I haven't received my invitation yet. Do you think it's lost in the mail?

all dat bullshit about Sarah Palin banning books has been debunked.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/palin/bannedbooks.asp

i'd dearly love to have sarah palin as the american president.
then we can laugh and hate america at the same time.
ah pong

anon - *sigh* these are lies i didn't propagate on this blog anyway. please read more carefully. there is plenty of evidence that she did want books banned - why else was the librarian sacked??? the list of books as snopes rightly points out was bogus, but i never linked to it and would have found it suspicious even before i read snopes.
i wonder why you are posting this comment on the wrong post.
October 06, 2008 1:51 PM
It's just palin wrong to blog about it here :-)
Perhaps anonymous is being Fey...

Is the first anonymous tibby who previously protested on the book banning post?
Oo ... Tina Fey rocks! Asking for a lifeline to answer a question from "Katie Couric".
October 06, 2008 2:19 PM
And Sharon, don't forget November 7th at the Gardens, MidValley. I'll be there for sure.
October 06, 2008 3:55 PM
not forgetting, Jordan. just it is an invite only event, i think.

Thanks to Chet informing me on Preeta's reading on 25th Oct at Seksan, I read Evening over two days and enjoyed it! Fingers crossed to get my copy signed then!
Waving hello to Chet!
Now .... back to the Iron Rooster!
October 06, 2008 7:09 PM
No lah I don't think this Anonymous is Tibby -- Tibby's self-righteousness was manifestly American (see the writing style osso you know) and this person seems Malaysian ("all dat bullshit"). Sharon might be able to tell if they're the same person from the ISP addresses, if we cared enough.
Emily, thanks for reading, but why crossing fingers and all?!? There's no lottery and I'm neither sombong enough nor famous enough to turn fans away when they want their books signed :-) . See you on the 25th.
Free Starbucks beverage voucher, wah! It's a bit ironic because I hate Starbucks but if it makes people happy I suppose it's all good! I should tell my Starbucks-loving relatives and friends.

Preeta - that's cuz there's a Starbucks inside the Borders outlet at The Curve.
There are lots of makan places at The Curve, including the pricey Cupcake Chic.
October 06, 2008 8:36 PM
wah preeta, you're not allowed to say you hate starbucks! marketing opportunities y'know. you need to indulge in a bit of product endorsement like someone else we know.
October 06, 2008 9:24 PM
Yes I know Starbucks and Borders have a close affiliation, even in the US :-) . Where there is Borders there shall be Starbucks (though vice-versa is not always true). Okay okay I'll suppress my communist tendencies and pretend to love Starbucks while in Malaysia.
Cupcake Chic, is that the place with the weekly cupcake menu that does the pandan gula melaka cupcakes? I know the Curve and its makan outlets pretty well but haven't yet explored Cupcake Chic.

yes yes. go cupcake chic. swoon swoon.
ok we love cupcakes. let's put them on the menu for seksan's.
October 06, 2008 10:00 PM
In Canada, it's Starbucks and Chapters (the Canadian version of Borders).
Cupcake Chic is RM9 a cupcake! When I asked the counter staff why so expensive, he said cuz their cupcakes are bigger! Not really ... And no, I didn't buy any.
Speaking of cupcakes, did anyone notice the cupcakes on NTV7?
October 06, 2008 10:18 PM
cupcake chic is good. you can have cheap and big chet that tastes like cardboard.
what cupcakes on ntv7??
October 06, 2008 10:33 PM
I like small cupcakes.
Go and watch NTV7 for a while, Sharon. You'll see the cupcakes.

I Love Starbucks!!! That's one thing I miss most, perhaps even more than laksa, the whole Starbucks environment (freezing air con, faked cheeriness from staff, crap music but FREE Wi-Fi : No shop has heard of Free Wi-Fi in South Africa, damnit!)

Chet: But in Canada, Starbucks has nothing on good old Tim Hortons. haha
October 07, 2008 10:25 AM
Jordan - how about Second Cup?
October 07, 2008 11:04 AM
You know Second Cup? OK, Tim's rules Canada (we'll overlook the fact that it is now owned by an American company), but yeah, Second Cup has a special place in my heart. Is it actually a chain? And here I thought there was just one, on Spring Garden Road in Halifax (unless that's the one you're actually talking about). That's where I met my wife in person for the first time! We bonded over white hot chocolate. Mmmm....
October 07, 2008 11:40 AM
Jordan - the Second Cup I went to was in one of the shopping malls in Vancouver in the mid 90s.
October 07, 2008 11:58 AM
Hmmm...a quick Google search tells me Second Cup has 360 locations across Canada.
But the one on Spring Garden Road is still special haha.

Got to market the book :) books don't sell themselves :)
October 08, 2008 8:20 PM
Preeta's in the MPG top 10 list, she might already be a millionaire :)
October 12, 2008 1:29 PM
That was supposed to be MPH, sorry :P
October 14, 2008 2:26 AM
Hello, I landed here after Googling "Preeta book reading MPH" because I just realised Preeta that you said its on the 25th and at MPH but I didn't know what time. Oh well, 11am then, THANK YOU Sharon! I love Preeta and everything about her. Talent is a word that pinned on her, still lacks the full-bodied description of who she is, and what she's made of. I should stop, as I realise I am amidst those that possibly know what I am talking about.
Oh and for the record, I like the Starbucks environment too, but not really the coffee (its price neither). In that sense, I think ol' Ipoh Old Town Coffee is a better option. Short of driving to Ipoh for the original. Preeta may I chope a date with you there this time around?? :-D
