Flabbergasted Pratchett Gets Knighthood

Fans of Terry Pratchett will be very happy to hear, I'm sure, that he has been awarded a knighthood in the Queen's New Year honours list for services to literature. On hearing the news, he said :
There are times when phrases such as 'totally astonished' just don't do the job. I am of course delighted and honoured and, needless to say, flabbergasted.
Pratchett was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease last year and has been campaigning tirelessly for funding for dementia research.

A well-deserved honour, I'd say.

I'll say. He writes great books. Another bit of proof that only seriously demented people are writers :)

Yay to Pratchett! I have no idea why I kept postponing the reading of his books. Time to dig into my TBR!

When I was back in Wales in 2007, I heard a couple of excerpts from a new radio play by this character. I thought they were quite pitiful, a writer trying to be funny, when in fact, the opposite is true. I thought nothing of it/them, and I suspect, many other thought the same, too. But that's just me.
