Shih-Li's Launch

Why not go cheer on Shih-Li Kow at the launch of her collection of short stories, Ripples, at Silverfish this Saturday, 21st Feb at 5.30 p.m.? Full details on the website. And yes (much as I hate to admit Raman is ever right about things!) the book is very good indeed.

I'm a Shi-li fan, ever since I read her stories in News from Home.

Met her in person at the BCL workshops, and am a bigger fan now :)

Can't make it to the launch tho I wanted to cos am going out of town. Hope I can get her signature on my copy tho.

But how do you get these books if you don't live in Asia? It can be extremely expensive if you order them online (I just bought an Australian novel, Year of the Shanghai Shark, and it cost me 55 Australian dollars!).

you can order from silverfish books itself as they do mail order and the cost of postage will depend on whether you choose surface mail or airmail.

(but anyway if you get in touch with me directly i can do my bookcrossing bit and send you a copy. my email is sharonbakar@yahoo.com)

That's really kind of you! I'll try Silverfish first, and if it doesn't work I'll get back to you!
It's always nice to read your blog - I live in northern Europe and we never, never get to hear anything about South Asian or South East Asian literature here.
