Herman Melville's magnum opus, much like its namesake -- that tireless, relentless, white whale -- is considered by many to be unconquerable. (although I have actually read the ending (yep, I'm one of those people), which was really interesting, but the beginnning - boy was it the slowest beginning ever ...)

I can identify with Uma's struggle to finish Moby Dick. I had to read the abridged version first *blush* before I could continue with the whole book in its entirety.
