Best Kids' Books

The Guardian features a very useful series of lists of the best children's books ever. Here's Lucy Mangan's introduction to the guide and readers add their own suggestions.

Postscript :

And to celebrate their 70th anniversary, children's publisher Puffin books has released a list of its 70 favourites.

My list:

*Famous Five books by Enid Blyton
*Rupert Bear books illustrated by Alfred Bestall
*Willard Price's Safari books
*Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators books.

Pity some of them are no longer "politically correct".

Okay to the earliest books like The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. But why in the older children category Anne of Green Gables is missing eludes me.

"Anne Frank"
"Adrian Mole"

"Anne Frank" and "Adrian Mole" are a good counterpoint to the Enid Blyton series.
