The Write Stuff

“In our country the importance of reading is still not being inculcated in homes or schools, and somewhere along the way of memorizing answers we have lost people who take pleasure in reading. If we don’t encourage reading, there will be no writing, no demand for books and authors ...We really need more quality writers locally and we need more fiction writers!”
says ZI Publications Ezra Zaid, interviewed in The Star by Sandra Low. He goes on to talk about what he expects from potential authors.  She goes on to talk to  Chong Ton Sin, who owns publishing company SIRD (Strategic Information and Research Development Centre) about publishing non-fiction; and authors Yvonne Lee and Brian Gomez about their paths to publication.
