Got a Story Looking for a Home?

Leah just sent me news of the Zoetrope: All-Story short-fiction competition which accepts entries from outside the US. Why not give it a go?

Nice way to make money :)

It's quite usual for competitions to charge ... but some of them offer to give feedback in exchange.

Maybe charging has one benefit - it makes writers think twice and three times before sending in a manuscript ...

Yeah... need to pay. :-(

Regarding fee-based contests, you have to use your common sense in deciding whether it's worth it to you to pay or not. How strongly do you believe in your story? Are you writing only for yourself or do you hope to sell your stories someday? Is it a major contest where a win would add luster to your next query letter, or is it a fly-by-night, who-cares, it's-only-a-scam-anyway contest?

I'll leave it to you to figure out which category Zoetrope falls into.
