Here's something else really nice for your diary. Hari Kunzru is going to be in KL May 9-11, sponsored by British Council.
Kunzru is the award-winning author of The Impressionist and
was named as one of Granta magazines 20 Best Fiction Writers Under 40 in 2003. Much more about him and his writing on his website.
Will keep you posted about times and venues of readings when I have more information.

Okay, so why don't we have any good-looking _female_ writers ? :P
I read books for books, because they're good. It doesn't matter to me who the author is. I don't necessarily care for the author or his views, what he looks like, what he sounds like etc. If it's good, I read it. I'd rather have more books over here than authors. As for award-winning, I hereby award this blog the um.. award award. There, now you can say it's an award-winning blog.
PS. But a cute female author wouldn't hurt though, would it ? :D
Wish I could be there, or that he would pass by here. I checked out Passaporta (literary venue in Brussels - http://www.passaporta.be/site/?page=home) but there's no-one I'm especially interested in. It would be great if you could send Hari! And I'm not talking about how good-looking he is, not that that hurts..
Hehe.. I've met him once in India already (*gloat gloat*). He really is GORGEOUS in person! :)
I think there are lots of really attractive female writers too... Zadie Smith, Arundhati Roy, Sophie Dahl, Jhumpa Lahiri, etc.. In fact, I've heard/read some criticism leveled at some of them that they get by on looks vs. talent (I don't agree with that contention for all of them). Do attractive male writers find themselves accused of the same?
Something to ask Hari, maybe. ;)
Shar,
They all look terrible.
Hmm.. what I mean is like Geraldine Collinge, except younger and not suffering from jet lag quite as much.
Hari is sure going to read very good, I can guarantee that, even though I haven't heard him to do that in real life (lucky Sharanya!). But I saw his BBC documentary on Islamic art, and he sounds very distinguished indeed - and for you female groupies, very distinguished looking as well.
Distinguished. That's the word. There are no _distinguished_ female authors.
