And talking of literary festivals ...I'm getting excited about this:
The international Ubud Writers & Readers Festival promises to charm you once again, with four days of inspiring discussions, creative workshops, literary lunches, book launches, free children’s workshops and special events in one of the world’s most beautiful settings.Books AND Bali? As if I need much prompting!
The festival was set up as a healing and economic development project after the Bali bombings in 2002. This year it runs from 30th September - 3rd October (workshops begin on 28th September) and the theme is Desa - Kala - Patra (Place - Time - Identity).
An impressive list of writers has been lined up including Anita Desai, Madhur Jaffrey, William Dalrymple, Su Tong, Ziauddin Sardar, Dionne Brand and Suketu Mehta.

I hope the Hardtalk interview will be repeated. No I won't be going to Frankfurt but my best friend -Ming Wong ex-Singapore - has been living in Germany for 15 years. We used to TESL together!
Apart from you, she is the most well-read person I know. She also writes a lot of articles(freelance)and the Book Fair is the highlight of her year. Her son Sebastian had read Harry Potter in English and German by the time he was 8! Goes to show about nurturing....
