Happy Blogiversary, bibliobibuli!

Happy blogiversary to me. Happy blogiversary to me.
Happy blogiversay, dear Bibliobibuli.
Happy blogiversary to me.

It's two years today and almost 1,000 posts later since I first ventured out into the blogosphere with bibliobibuli, unsure of what direction it would go in, nervous about putting my writing out there and how it would be received.

I discovered another addiction (beside reading) that has been gradually taking over my life. And if there was a moment when I found my focus, I think it was when Literary Saloon, an important website on the world of books, linked me. I was a litblogger, officially, and I'd better start behaving like one!

Plenty of good things have happened as a result of the blog. It's led to (paid) writing work and given me the starting points for numerous articles which have appeared in local newspapers and magazines. It's made me read widely to turn up interesting material, and I've learned so much about authors and the publishing world along the way.

And recently I've been approached to write a book based on this blog, a "blook" in other words. I think it might happen, so stay tuned.

There have been one or two bad moments - getting flamed by nutcases has left me a little more guarded, particularly about writing the more personal stuff, about admitting those petty little weaknesses ... like suffering depression. (Writing this blog helped me through.)

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the readers of this blog, who make me want to write it. I can't believe how many new friendships I've found along the way, many of them have migrated into the so-called "real world".

Thanks for the time you spend reading, thanks for linking me (I'm honestly humbled), thanks most of all for your comments. I'm thrilled that there are bibliophiles out there, even more passionate than I am, much more well read. I've been grateful for book recommendations which have made me reconsider some of my own snobby prejudices and try new stuff. (I'm reading graphic fiction now!) I love too that you keep me entertained throughout the day when I'm bored working at home!

I like my blog so much I think I might officially change my name to bibliobibuli.

But if you want you can call me, bib.

Happy blogiversary! As far as I'm concerned, this blog is on my top 5 most important Malaysian blogs list. ;)

So keep it going!

Happy Blogiversary, Sharon (or Bib, now? Bib actually sounds quite chic, like a fashion designer). I always enjoy reading your blog, and you are the one who got me started on mine. Right now, I'm guilty of neglecting it, sometimes going at it when I have something to tell. I should re-rev it up, sometime.

Dear Bib, Happy 2nd Bloggiversary. Your blog was one of those which prompted me to jump onto the blogging bandwagon. A Blook! Now that's exciting. Hey, what happened to that "real" book you're writing (on writing)?

thanks for kind words - feel very humbled, very grateful, extremely happy (though also very responsible ... can't let you down now!)

glad the blog has prompted others to start blogging. i started blogging because i loved dina's gongkapas times ... it all gets passed forward, i guess

lydia - the creative writing book is being written. i am working on it steadily and want to expand my courses and try out some new ideas which will then feed into what gets written. i am gaining experience as i teach, and writing material for the quill magazine which will be used. i guess i want the book to come about organically and not be rushed.

btw - do you celebrate your blogiversaries? and how should we mark the day in style? i wish i could share a big cake. maybe i'll throw a blog party next year.

leon - forgot to say. i love your blog. please start writing again. and write lots. you make me smile.

WHEEE!!! Congrats on your 2nd blogiversary! I cannot tell you how much I loved your blog and have high respects for you since knowing about it from last year's NaNo. May you go very, very far and be listed in the Top 10 World Literary Blog by the NY Times (if there's ever such a thing!)

Happy blogversary, Bib! Thanks for providing us with such a great nucleus for writing and literature in Malaysia, one we can count on everyday (except when you go on holiday!). Graphic novels -- are you reading Marjane Satrapi? If you are not, or haven't already, you must! I can lend you Persepolis I & II.. still have two books I need to return to you myself.

Hi Sharon, Happy Anniversary. I knew about your writing course via your blog so am grateful to bibliobibuli (did I spell that right?). I have to say I'm a bit of an addict and hit your site several times a day. Keep on with the writing, Sharon, as we'll keep on reading. Zarina

A joyous blogiversary to you, Sharon! So I was one of the many who lazily called you Bib almost by accident.

I'm painfully new to blogging and reading blogs. Thanks to Xeus I am now addicted to reading yours, too.
