Read or Die!
Tiara asked in the comments to a previous post if I would mention the Read or Die Convention 2007, to be held on Feb 3 and 4 in Manila, the Philippines. And I'm happy to because it sounds a great event and I'm almost tempted to jump on AirAsia myself! (And just look at how these guys are marketing reading - as something fun and sexy - how unlike our feeble attempts to hook folks on books here.)As Tiara says:
It's the Philippines's first ever literary convention of its kind. There will be panels, events, exhibits (rare books from Gaiman and Rushdie!), film screenings, and other fun stuff, as well as the Pinoy Readers' Choice Awards. It's completely non-profit and all the proceeds will go towards the AHON Foundation, who are aiming to build libraries all over the Philippines. If any of my Filippino readers make it to the convention, do let us know how it went.

Title reminds me of the famous anime of the same name:

Actually, Burhan, that's where the convention got its name. It has a nice ring to it.
