Hitting the Cyberspot

Authors who blog Antares (left) and Robert Raymer are among the bloggers caught by the Malay Mail's Cyberspot today. Robert says some nice things about this blog (which I'm grateful for!). Antares notes that blogging :
... has actually become a full-time unpaid job ...

Not unpaid actually, if you have ads on it :) some people have made fortunes from blogging :)

not me, sadly. i've made just around RM800 since i signed up with nuffnang. of course the indirect benefits (free books, invitations) have made up for it.

Hm... 800.. about 40 really good dinners. Or teh-tarik + roti canai every day for a year. Right now I can live for 5 years with 800.

After two years of blogging I still haven't earned my first $100 from Google Adsense. Tried Nuffnang TWICE - and both times quickly uninstalled their ads which tend to jam up the blog with a lot of badly written javascript. Nuffnang also have very low standards in ads - and I don't wish to be associated with low-grade ads! So forget about blogging for money.

Long time no hug, Sharon. Why don't you come visit and collect your accumulated hugs? :-)

Sharon,
You're welcome for the nice comments! I know, not as good as a hug or money, but what to do?

Antares --

Too wordy, hard to read. On the net you got to have 3-line paragraphs maximum :)

i'm glad i stuck with nuffnang, antares - i think the ads have improved - both in terms of looks and in terms of the advertisers. the code is not buggy at all now. i was happy to have the toyota vios ad, as that's a car i'd love to own. i like the public service ads in between the paid ads too. ... and they do pay up and pay quite well. i think google ads are ugly ...

i was in conversation with nuffnang about persuading the advertisers i want to have (i.e. the bookshops) to work w nuffnang so i get relevant ads, but sadly nothing has come of it from the advertisers side ...

ohh and all hugs are greatly welcome. should come and collect 'em, shouldn't i, antares!

RM800 = two trips to the hairdresser (yes, i know!)

Wow, I'd be hard pressed to spend Rm10 on a haircut :P where can you spend Rm400 on your hair? :P

It's odd.. you say you can't afford a Toyota Vios and then you say you spend Rm400 on your hair every visit. Mayhap the two are related :)
