For Love of Books

While we debate who should be "reading ambassadors" to stir interest in reading in Malaysia, an article in The Jakarta Globe tells us an inspiring story about an ordinary Indonesian woman, construction worker and mother of two, Kiswanti, who has been able to drive home the message that everyone deserves access to books.

That is awesome. And that's what you call an authentic "reading ambassador."

It always makes me happy to read about kids feeling happy about the prospect of having books to read. I can blank out the real-life middle class children I know who wage a war of silence against their parents for not getting them the iPhone.
