Seminar - Post Colonial Malaysian Literature

Poet and academic Faridah Manaf sent me details of a literature seminar to be held Saturday 6th January at the International Islamic University. Speakers include playwright Kee Thuan Chye and poet Wong Phui Nam.

Contact details are on the poster (click and click), and on Faridah's blog.

Maybe I'll see you there?

I'm interested. I can't get into Faridah's site. The poster doesn't say what the programme is. Can you post it on your site?
PS. Finally got into your blog!! Didn't realise what an addict I was until I was deprived.

This poster arrives just in time to qualify as Ugliest Design of 2006! May God have mercy.

Got the programme and I will attend.
Agree about the poster. Maybe the organisers should meet up with Those Amazing Malay Boys.

not sexy, is it? very governmenty. i am worried that i will go there and stir up trouble by being contentious about the whole "postcolonial" thing which is a concept i think should be retired, and about the whole arrogance of talking about a national literature as if it were the role of academics to decide on such a matter ...

animah, chet, stepping into the world of literary academia will do some very odd things to your mind. are you honestly sure you are brave enough for this???

That sure is one ugly poster.

tak baik u all cakap macam tu. kesian designer UIA, hahahaha. susah dia buat tau. first fotostat peta dunia... lepas tu tampal bendera malaysia yang di photoshop... tampal lagi logo-logo...

hahahahahahahahahaha.

come to think of it, it looks like the cover of skoob's anthology that was published years ago...

it's the little male and famale symbols i love, heading off in the direction of western australia (male) and antarctica (female) which is probably closer to the mark than all this mars venus stuff

but the designer has done a great job of ... well ... fitting absolutely everything in

and in providing us with a little light entertainment along the way. ms d is right. kesian dia.

amir, dina ... you into coming along?
