A Tash Bash!

Gosh, isn't this just the day for good news announcements of the bookish kind!

When I learned that Malaysian writer Tash Aw, author of The Harmony Silk Factory was going to be doing booksignings at MPH, I suggested to the marketing folks there that perhaps he could come to the next Writer's Circle meeting. Just heard that he's agreed, which is wonderful!

Details of the next meeting from MPH:

Date : Sat, 18 June 2005
Time : 11am (sharp!)
Venue: The Booker Room, Level 2
MPH Megastore 1 Utama
1 Utama Shopping Centre

Tash will be interviewed by Oon Yeoh and there will be a q&a.

Places are limited, so you need to register ahead of time with MPH's Customer Service at 03-7726 9003 or email csoneutama@mph.com.my .

Tash will also be making author appearances at these outlets:
Courtyard, MPH Mid Valley Sat, 18 June 3pm
Entrance 1, MPH Megastore 1 Utama Sun, 19 June 3pm

See you there!

Incidentally, there is an excellent interview with Tash Aw in the current Off The Edge supplement (not online yet though ... so off you go to the newsagents!). Worth buying The Edge for even if you discard the boring financial bits along the way like kulit kacang.

Postscript: Couldn't resisit adding this. One of my course participants, who comes to the MPH Writer's Circle was enjoying the delicious irony of Oon Yeoh (who said a few weeks ago that there was no money to be made for Malaysians in writing fiction) interviewing Tash Aw (who is deservedly laughing all the way to the bank). We've got some leg-pulling to do here!
